Introduction
This article provides instructions for the procurement and installation of bolts for UTS800 and UTS1200 Molded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCBs), including the additional step of installing interphase barriers during the process.
Problem Statement
The requirement of transitioning Lug-type to bolt-on in UTS800 and UTS1200 MCCBs has been identified, with the additional need for interphase barriers. The immediate challenge is to ensure the correct parts are sourced and properly installed.
Parts Identification and Sourcing
UTS800 MCCBs:
Part Number: 83261176324 SPARE PART ASS'Y,3P BOLT ON,UTS800
UTS1200 MCCBs:
Part Number: 83261176323 SPARE PART ASS'Y,3P BOLT ON,UTS1200
Interphase Barriers:
Part Number: 83261176815
Installation Instructions for UTS800 and UTS1200 MCCBs
Initial Preparation: Ensure all MCCBs are powered down and secure before beginning the installation to guarantee safety.
Interphase Barriers: For both UTS800 and UTS1200 MCCBs, interphase barriers must be installed. These barriers are crucial for maintaining electrical isolation between phases and preventing arc flash incidents.
See step 4 in the diagram below!
Bolt Installation:
For UTS800 MCCBs: Position the bolts onto the MCCB, ensuring that the bolts align with the mounting holes. Secure the plates using the bolts provided. Ensure that the interphase barrier is installed between each phase. Confirm that the supporter, is correctly placed to provide additional stability to the assembly.
For UTS1200 MCCBs: Similar to the UTS800, align the bolts with the mounting holes. Since the UTS1200 does not require a supporter, proceed to secure the plates directly onto the MCCB unit.
