How to replace my OCR with another OCR? (ACB)

Guidelines for Replacing an OCR (Overcurrent Relay)

There are several reasons why you might need to replace your OCR, such as damage, malfunction, or general wear. However, it is important to follow proper procedures to ensure a safe and successful replacement.

Note:
The following steps apply only if you are replacing the OCR with the exact same type (e.g., replacing an AR1 with another AR1).

Replacement Procedure:

Please refer to the attached PowerPoint slides for visual reference. Below is a summary of the process:

  1. Identify the OCR type
Check the nameplate on the breaker to determine the exact model of the installed OCR.

  2. Obtain a matching replacement
Make sure you have the same model OCR as the one being replaced.

  3. Remove the front cover
Detach the front panel of the ACB to access the existing OCR.

  4. Disconnect the old OCR
Unplug the wire harness and remove the set screws holding the OCR in place.

  5. Remove the OCR
Carefully take out the old OCR from the breaker.

  6. Configure DIP switches
Before installing the new OCR, set the DIP switches appropriately.

  7. Reference slide instructions
Refer to the attached presentation for guidance on setting the correct DIP switch configuration.

  8. Install the new OCR
Mount the replacement OCR, reconnect the wire harness, and reassemble the front cover.

Important: Replacing with a Different OCR Type

If you are changing to a different OCR model (e.g., from AR1 to PQ2), do not proceed without additional support. This type of change introduces compatibility issues, such as:

  • Different power supply requirements

  • Different labeling for the breaker

  • Incompatible wire harness connections

For these cases, please contact the Power Support Group for assistance. Switching OCR types involves more complex steps and should not be done without proper guidance.
