How to load an HMI program from a USB stick

Smaller HMIs such as the eXP20 can connect to XP Builder over Ethernet or a Serial connection. In some cases it may be more convenient to load the program from a USB stick (thumb drive). Refer to the below steps..

Downloading to the USB Stick
  1. Once you have a project which you are ready to save onto the USB, click the download button (circled below).
  2. This will bring up a popup. Click the "Save as file" radio button.
  3. Click "Browse" and navigate to the USB stick you plan to load the program onto.
  4. Click the "Download" button. A progress bar will show up. The project is now on the USB stick.
You must have the format of the folder set to "\XP_Project\Project Name" after the USB drive letter.
Ensure the download screen is similar to this one.
Uploading to the HMI Panel
  1. Locate the USB "Host" port on the back of the HMI. See picture below.
  2. Plug in the USB which contains the program.
  3. Power ON the HMI panel at select "Storage Function" at the Runtime screen.
  4. Select "Project Download".

  5. Select the project you want to download into the HMI panel. Then press OK.
  6. A progress bar will show up and the program will transfer into the HMI panel.
