Getting an OVT on startup

Getting an OVT on startup

Tripping on overvoltage (OVT) on start can be a sign of a short in the motor. Follow the below checks to find the root cause.
  1. Accel and Decel times are set properly for the application. Extended these out if possible
  2. V/F pattern is setup correctly
  3. Disconnect the motor and run the VFD.
  4. If the VFD runs okay, the problem can lie in the motor or motor cable. Any short to ground can cause OVT. Use a meggar for testing.
  5. If the VFD trips out with no motor, the VFD can have damaged CT's or other internal issues.
