DC Disconnect Switch – 1500Vdc Polarity & Current Rating Clarification

DC Disconnect Switch – 1500Vdc Polarity & Current Rating Clarification

 1. Polarity – 1500Vdc Model

The 1500Vdc DC Disconnect does not require polarity input.

This means the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals can be connected without worrying about orientation.
This design allows for flexible installation and aligns with what is described in the official manual.

2. Pole Configuration & Current Rating

  • The internal connection for DC applications is series-based.

  • The rated current of 3200A applies per pole.

  • Important: Using two poles does not mean the current rating becomes 6400A.
The use of 2 poles is generally intended for:

    • Switching both the + and - side of the circuit

    • Ensuring full isolation and operator safety

    • Not for increasing current capacity

Connection Diagram by Voltage Level

  1. 500Vdc: 1-pole or 2-pole options depending on direction
  2. 1000Vdc: Typically requires polarity alignment
  3. 1500Vdc: No polarity needed, 2-pole or 4-pole use depending on isolation level
