Connecting and Configuring an LS VFD to Productivity PLCs over Ethernet

Connecting and Configuring an LS VFD to Productivity PLCs over Ethernet

Below is the required setup procedure for connecting, controlling, and monitoring an LS VFD to a Productivity 1000 connected via Ethernet TCP/IP.

Initial Setup

Start by adding a Generic Ethernet/IP device in the "Hardware Config". See below example of the device properties.
IP, Gateway, and Subnet will vary depending on the local network settings.

Note: Columns and elements should match. Example: 2 columns and 2 elements.
Multi-cast is limited to a certain number of VFDs.  If connection issues occur, it is recommended to set the PLC to unicast.

Input Assemblies

Input assembly setup in CM29 on the VFD must match the input data settings on the PLC.

See below example for instance 70.
Also note the above listed data size matches the PLC settings.

Output Assemblies

Output assembly setup in CM49 on the VFD must match the output data settings on the PLC.

See below example for instance 20.
Also note the above listed data size matches the PLC settings.

Configuration Data
See below example.
This must be setup. If not, a timeout will occur resulting in an error. This uses 1 column and 0 elements.
